Annotating work
Annotating your work means making notes on it to explain what you have done and why.
You can either:
- print out your work and write on it neatly by hand or
- use call outs to annotate your work on the computer.
Call outs
How do I use call outs?
1. Make sure that you can see the drawing tool bar. this is normally at the bottom of the screen.
If you don't have the drawing tool bar go to: View > Toolbars > Drawing
2. Go to autoshapes > callouts.
3. Use the mouse to click and drag the callout box.
File names
You must always save work with a name that tells you what it is, for example
Letter, Logo, Business spreadsheet
You must not use names like: Mybezziework, doc, doc2, dafasfkgj, etc.
You must not use punctuation marks in your file names to make them look pretty. For example: xxx-letter-xxx, -x-database-x-.
Headers and Footers
Every peice of work you print out must have a header and a footer or it will not be marked.
How do I get into the header/footer?
In Word, powerpoint, or excel go to: View > Header and Footer
Header: You should put the unit name and task information in the header.
To help you this is coloured blue.
For example: OCR Practice Unit - Task 1 - File Management - A1, B1
Footer: You should put your full name and the school name in the footer.
For example: Joseph Bloggs - Hindley High School
