OCR Practice Unit

About this unit

This is a short unit of work that will help you to understand what you need to do for your OCR coursework.
Your coursework is important, by the end of year 9 you should have completed work that will result in a qualification equivalent to a GCSE.

Time scale

You will have two weeks or 5 lessons to complete this work. You will have one lesson to complete each task, including the merit and distinction work.
This will give you a good idea of how quickly you need to work in order to complete your cousework and keep up with the class.
If you have time off it is your responsibility to catch up.

Marking

At the end of each lesson you must hand in each task.
Your work will be marked and returned to you with a grade and comments on what you need to do to improve.
If you do not pass a task you must improve your work and hand it in again.

At the end of the unit you will be given an overall grade. This will indicate what you would get in your OCR coursework.
You must get all of the pass marks to pass.

Grades
Distinction = grade A at GCSE
Merit = grade B at GCSE
Pass = grade C at GCSE.

Why is practice coursework important?

You teacher can give you much more help on this practice work than they can on real coursework, this is your chance to make sure you understand what to do.
Coursework is very different to the work you are used to doing in years 7 and 8, this practice unit will help you to learn what is expected of you in year 9.

All of the work in this practice unit will help you with Unit 1 of your coursework.
If you do not complete this work you will find Unit 1 much harder.

Points to remember

-Use the web pages to help you with your coursework.
-Keep your checklist up to date and use it to work out what to do next.
- Always include a header and a footer on your work.
- The header must include the unit name and task number
- The footer must include your name and the school name
- You must treat each lesson seriously, there is no exam in ICT, each lesson is like an exam.
- Everything you do in ICT counts towards your final grade. Even the practice work can be used to help you in your coursework.
- You must keep up to date with the work.
- If you fall behind it is your job to catch up. (Even if you have been off sick.) 		Check list
